Loudoun Family Photographer | Little League World Series Recap
The past 14 days have been a blur. There have been so many moments of awe and so many moments of wishing I could freeze time. There have been moments of tears and wanting to be home. There have been thrilling moments of pride and happiness. The craziest part of this entire ride was watching my 12 year old grow up before my eyes. I saw his drive for baseball differently than I had ever seen before. I saw his compassion for people come through harder than before. I witnessed a tremendous amount of sportsmanship from this team. I witnessed these boys teach some adults how you should behave (in life) during the game. I saw this ball of personality shine on and off camera from ALL of them. It was surreal to watch.
While the tournament didn’t end in a win, we in fact WON! I have spent the better part of the past 4 days trying to put in to words what we just experienced. First off, I was blessed enough to spend 90% of my summer with the most amazing families. These Mamas, we had each other’s back. From washing laundry to grabbing food for the kids and driving…ALL THE DRIVING. They were my saving grace a lot. This bond we now have is forever. Thank you, fellow mamas, for having each other’s back. I know I would not have made it through the summer without you.
These boys: WOW…they brought people together. They proved that anything is possible and that their love of baseball is contagious. They gathered people from all over, cheering them on and routing for them during every single game. These boys sparked a love of baseball in the smallest of child and the oldest of man who maybe forgot what it was like to believe in something. They also showed us that just because you don’t speak the same language doesn’t mean you can’t be friends and support each other.
These coaches: Let me just say they did an amazing job with our boys. Plus during the LLWS they had to be Mom and Dad for these kids since we couldn’t be with them all the time. I know that must have been hard on them. Not to mention all photos sessions, practice, and game prep. Throw in a little media to that and I am not sure how they did it. They coached their hearts out and our boys are better for it. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!
My family was amazing. My kids gave up their summer to cheer on their brother and for the most part loved every minute of it. The siblings of other players and my kiddos formed a bond that is unbreakable and I believe that has made this experience amazing for them.
The fans were better than I could have ever imagined. People drove from all over just to watch our boys play. Now that it is all said and done, I have had people reach out to me from far and wide with words of support. The love for these boys, their coaches and our community is far and away greater than I could have ever expected. This summer my 12 year old showed me what it was like to play your heart out and leave it ALL on the field. He proved that his love of the sport is bigger than winning and losing. Most importantly, he showed me that who you are and how you treat people is the most important thing in life and I am incredibly proud. Proud of him, his team, and those coaches who gave up so much to be with these boys. I know my boy captured hearts of those near and far with his personality and his kindness. I am so honored to be his mama.

Lastly, this experience changed me, too. It showed me that dreams are still alive and are meant to be followed. I learned that sacrifice is a choice but one that is so enriching. Not just for the one you are sacrificing for, but for yourself. Most importantly I learned that love and kindness are not dead. The smallest acts sometimes make the biggest impact. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
