Northern Virginia All Inclusive Family Photographer | Belly and Baby

I love belly and baby sessions. For me it means I get to document the before and after. I know that sounds odd. However, if you think about it, there is a before and after. When I meet an expecting couple for their maternity session there is a lot of excitement, anticipation, and nerves. They know their life will change but really aren’t sure just how much. When we get together again after the baby is born, there is a lot of love, joy and definitely some exhaustion. Both are so amazing to me. My kids are past that stage so it’s almost as if I am living it through each client I meet. It is also the best way to document a very precious time in your life.

The biggest regret I have is that I don’t have maternity photos with any of my children. I have a few shots from a film camera and I love those so much. They are incredibly valuable to me. But I wish I would have hired someone to take them for me with my husband and each kiddo. I think people think photographers have all the pictures of all of their kids at every stage of life and I do have some but photography is a lot more valued by society today than it was 14 years ago when I was pregnant with my first child. Even though we as women are incredibly hard on ourselves with how we look, especially when pregnant, I can promise you, I have never met a pregnant mama who wasn’t stunningly beautiful. My advice to you if you are on the fence about photos, capture this time. You will not regret it.
