Northern Virginia Photography | Small Business Saturday
Today is Small Business Saturday. For a small business, it has the potential to be the biggest revenue earner of the year. However, for a photographer, it is not. We are in the business of memories. While there are some tangible aspects to what we do, the biggest part is capturing a moment of time. That doesn’t happen on one day of the year. It happens all year long.
This year alone I have captured many firsts, a few lasts and a lot of love in between. I am grateful for this gift I have been given and I am beyond thankful for all of you. This job allows me to be home with my kids when they are home from school and see them off in the morning. I don’t have to miss their most important events due to being in the office, stuck in traffic (although that happens from time to time anyway because, well, …Northern Virginia). My kids are able to participate in their favorite sports and activities. My husband works hard too and this business I created helps him slow down a little more and also be around for the big things in our kid’s lives. Of course it also helps contribute to the necessities of life so he doesn’t carry that burden too.
But in all honestly the most important thing this job allows me to do is give back. I get to donate my time and skills to a charity that needs it, I get to give a family or two a Christmas that otherwise wouldn’t have one. I get to donate to non-profits that speak to my heart. Through this job, I have taught my kids the value of heard work, sacrifice and sometimes you make choices that make a difference for someone else. This is all because of you, my amazing clients. You come back year after year. You send your friends and families to me and they in turn, do the same. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!
