Virginia Photographer | Looking Toward 2020
I believe that before you can move forward it is important to reflect upon where you have been. I spent that last week with my family in the Caribbean. It was restful, it was warm, and for the first time in a few months, I actually relaxed. I love this new tradition we are creating. It was truly magical spending Christmas beyond the hustle and bustle of what the day has always been. Shuffling from one house to the next with boxes and wrapping paper everywhere. We still ate until we were stuffed, remembered Christmases past and reflected on the true meaning of the holiday. It was just what we needed.
I spent that last day and the LONG car ride home think about the past year and looking toward the future both personally and as a Virginia Photographer. My goals for 2020 have changed since the last year but not drastically. All my personal goals are more direct and revolve around my health and my family. Of course, traveling as well. There is nothing better than making memories. This year I will continue to teach my kids kindness and humility and the value of hard work. I want them to spend more time outside and less time on devices. (I’m sure anyone with teenagers feel the same way). I want to spend more time with my husband without our kids. We take one trip alone a year and I love it. We also try and have a date night once a week but this year didn’t work out that way. I want to be the friend that I hope to have in return. I want to make sure my friendships are never a circle and always a “U” because there is always room for someone else. Most importantly, I will take some time for just me because I can’t my best for anyone else unless I am my best for me.
I have a million photos on my phone and computer from the past year. It is also an awesome reminder of what we did and what we accomplished. This year was more than I dreamed it could be and while it had ups and downs, the ups were WAY more than the downs. Below are just a few of my favorite memories from 2019.
In 2020 as a Virginia Photographer, I am looking forward to continuing to build a business I am still very proud of. Building relationships with my clients and capturing amazing memories for them. I will continue to focus on Maternity, Newborn, Child and Family photography with a few High School Senior portraits thrown in. I will spend the next few days continuing to refine what I want to offer all of my amazing clients. But the biggest thing I want to focus on is getting the photos off the computers and on to your walls and coffee tables. There is nothing better than seeing a memory on a wall. Personally it has helped me see just how much my children have grown. I’ve said it before and I will say it a million times, Thank You for allowing me into your worlds to capture these special memories for you. I’m always looking to grow and get better, so please let me know if you have any feedback. Thanks, 2019 for the great memories, bring on 2020!!!
